Where The Ground Is Level

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." -  Galatians 3:28

I was looking at some photos of me that my bride had posted on Facebook in recognition of Veterans Day. I was reminded that I have had the opportunity to do some pretty extraordinary things in my 73+ years that my feet have trod this earth. Typically, I don't talk about the things I have done with others unless it will glorify God - particularly among people who have not had the same opportunities. In my experience, that very often hampers our relationship or the potential of one.

I once heard or read that "The ground is level at the foot of the cross."  Those things that bring distinction between people, abilities, education, ethnicity, country of origin, vocation, avocation, possession, gender are of no significance when you are standing before the Cross of the Risen Savior. As children of God, we are all the same before Him and should be in the eyes of each other.

But sadly, very often, that has not been true in the history of the Church and remains untrue today. All of those natural distinctions continue to rise up and result in separation - disunity on the Church - the Body of Christ. By another name, and one that is more difficult for Christians to swallow, is Sin.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23

That is the common ground for the natural man with his natural brothers and sisters, regardless of the other natural distinctions they may bear. Everyone is separated from God by their sin, and everyone needs a Savior - who is Jesus Christ.

As born-again children of God have been given a ministry of reconciliation. Insomuch as each of us has been reconciled to God the Father through faith in Jesus the Son, we are to share the Good News so that others may be reconciled as we have been. And being reconciled to God we are to be reconciled to each other having the same faith and same spirit.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [a]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:17-19

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
