Keeping Your Priorities In Order

“We will all feel very much ashamed if we do not yield to Jesus the areas of our lives He has asked us to yield to Him. It’s as if Paul were saying, “My determined purpose is to be my utmost for His highest— my best for His glory.” To reach that level of determination is a matter of the will, not of debate or of reasoning. It is absolute and irrevocable surrender of the will at that point. An undue amount of thought and consideration for ourselves is what keeps us from making that decision, although we cover it up with the pretense that it is others we are considering. When we think seriously about what it will cost others if we obey the call of Jesus, we tell God He doesn’t know what our obedience will mean. Keep to the point— He does know. Shut out every other thought and keep yourself before God in this one thing only— my utmost for His highest. I am determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and Him alone.” CHAMBERS

What do you worry most about?  What do you pray most about?  What do you think most about?  Family. Finances. Health. Matthew 6:33 says “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all of these things will be added unto you”  Paul said “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

Our focus must be on our relationship with God, first. All too often, we focus on God when our plans don’t work out .. when life throws us a curve.  You need to make God THE priority in your life.  Being a Christian is not just one thing that describes you, like being a dad, mom, sister, brother, whatever.  It is who you are.  You need to set things in their proper order.  Oswald Chambers calls it being your utmost for His Highest.  You have to decide to do that .. you must make the effort  ….. not just hope it will happen.  ELGIN

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus.  Look full in his wonderful face. And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of his glory and grace.”
