What a Friend We Have In Jesus

My Utmost For His Highest

‘He [Jesus] urges us to keep our minds filled with the concept of God’s control over everything, which means that a disciple must maintain an attitude of perfect trust and an eagerness to ask and to seek. Fill your mind with the thought that God is there. And once your mind is truly filled with that thought, when you experience difficulties it will be as easy as breathing for you to remember, “My heavenly Father knows all about this!” This will be no effort at all, but will be a natural thing for you when difficulties and uncertainties arise. Before you formed this concept of divine control so powerfully in your mind, you used to go from person to person seeking help, but now you go to God about it.’ CHAMBERS

Where do you turn for answers to life’s questions? Do you trust God in everything or have you relegated only the “big” things for Him and you will handle everything else.  That does not mean that we don’t need friends and advice from them … but what we need is Godly counsel not man’s opinions … natural solutions … people who have experience in some area are good to turn to … but, as a Christian, you need to hear from the Father … Phil 4:6,7 says “be anxious for nothing … but in everything … “ 1 Peter 5:7 says ‘Cast ALL your cares’ … Prov 3:5 says “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart”  In Matthew 11:8, Jesus said “Come to Me” God is a first resort not a last resort.

You will have to fight your natural wisdom .. the thinking that God does not care about your problems … embrace the truth … God cares about every last detail of your life …

“What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.”  (What a Friend We Have in Jesus)
