Saving Faith

"Then they said to the woman; Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world." - John 4:42

The woman was the woman at the well. She had testified to the town about Jesus - the Messiah. But her testimony was not enough to save others. Just like my faith cannot save my children or my siblings or friends. My folk's faith could not save me. Not that we didn't wish that it could be so.

"But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - Romans 10:8-10

God uses the testimony of the Saints - word and deed - to declare that Jesus is the Way and Truth and Life, but no one comes to the Father except by Jesus. (John 14:6) That is our mission in our generation. Declaring the Gospel to the multiple generations living in our time. What they do with the Truth is between them and God. According to the Bible, most will turn away. Many of those may be ones that we love as family and friends.

"Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." - Matthew 7:13-14

Why is getting through the narrow gate difficult? Because we must choose Jesus over the world. Our message is the same today as it was in the days of Joshua.

"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15

Think about it – Pray about it – Believe it – Walk in it. Let your light shine and give God the glory.

By Faith Alone By His Grace Alone And For His Glory Alone
