Choosing To Pray

My Utmost For His Highest

‘Prayer does not equip us for greater works— prayer is the greater work. […] Prayer is the battle, and it makes no difference where you are. However God may engineer your circumstances, your duty is to pray. Never allow yourself this thought, “I am of no use where I am,” because you certainly cannot be used where you have not yet been placed. Wherever God has placed you and whatever your circumstances, you should pray, continually offering up prayers to Him. CHAMBERS

When you became a Christian, how did that happen?  You prayed.  Our life in Christ begins with prayer.  Our daily walk should continue in prayer.  Rather than try to figure it out .. we should talk to God about it.  If we draw conclusions which lead to actions that are devoid of prayer … it is very likely that the conclusion is ours alone and God was not included.  1 Peter 5:7Cast all your cares on HimPhilippians 4:6,7 “Be anxious for nothing but in everything with prayer and supplication let your requests be made known to God”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  Ephesians 6:18 “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

So how are you doing with that?  Personally I have a ways to go.  It is so easy to try to live the Christian life without prayer.  Huge mistake.  You don’t need to go to Christian book store and buy a how-to-pray book … you didn’t have it when you accepted Jesus as Lord … you just need to approach God with a pure heart and clean hands. Take time to pray .. do it today .. do it now.
