Who or What Do You Love?

My Utmost For His Highest

‘Are you seeking great things for yourself? Have you said, “Oh, Lord, completely fill me with your Holy Spirit”? If God does not, it is because you are not totally surrendered to Him; there is something you still refuse to do. Are you prepared to ask yourself what it is you want from God and why you want it? God always ignores your present level of completeness in favor of your ultimate future completeness. He is not concerned about making you blessed and happy right now, but He’s continually working out His ultimate perfection for you— “. . . that they may be one just as We are one . . .” (John 17:22).’ CHAMBERS

Rick Warren said that God is more concerned with your character than your comfort.  What is it that you seek from God?  When you prayed to accept Jesus and the salvation we find in Him, what were you focused on?  Grace, mercy, the love of God?  When you think about your faith today, what do you focus on?  The relationship or the benefits of that relationship?

There is nothing more frustrating to me than to realize that a person I know is only interested in what they can get from me and not in me, personally.  It is like I am extra baggage … they don’t value me, but only what I have.  That is often the way we treat God.  He loved us and sent His Son … Do we seek Him so we can have a better life .. an easier time … more things?  Or do we seek Him because we love Him …

The Love Of God – Frederick Lehman

The love of God is greater far Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star, And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled, And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain:
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure— The saints’ and angels’ song.

Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;
To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry;
Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.
