How Deep Is Deep?

My Utmost For His Highest

Most of us live only within the level of consciousness— consciously serving and consciously devoted to God. This shows immaturity and the fact that we’re not yet living the real Christian life. Maturity is produced in the life of a child of God on the unconscious level, until we become so totally surrendered to God that we are not even aware of being used by Him. When we are consciously aware of being used as broken bread and poured-out wine, we have yet another level to reach— a level where all awareness of ourselves and of what God is doing through us is completely eliminated. A saint is never consciously a saint— a saint is consciously dependent on God.’ CHAMBERS

1 Corinthians 2:9-12  ‘But as it is written: "EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NOR HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM."  (10)  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  (11)  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.  (12)  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.’

As we live this life of faith … as we walk in our understanding of who we are in Christ … there is the reality that there is so much more about this new life of ours that we are not aware of or perhaps comprehend.  How much faith does God want us to exercise?  More than we did the last time.  How much trust does He want us to have in Him?  More than we trust Him today.  How much does He want us to give up to follow Jesus?  Everything .. ev…er..ry..thing … until there is not one speck, on drop, one iota left in our hands.  How far does God want to take us .. farther than we ever imagined we would or could go.

God’s love is deep … we talk about deep .. but He is deep like the depths of space … infinite … a pocket can be deep .. but it  has a bottom.  There is a deep end to a pool, but it has a limit.  The ocean is deep, but it has a bottom.  But with God … there is no bottom .. no limit … He goes on  …. He just goes on …. And He wants us to go with Him.  AS Christians we have begun a marvelous journey into eternity.  When I think of this .. and then those petty things that cause me to stumble .. I am ashamed of my lack of understanding.  I am like Nicodemus.

John 3:9-12  ‘Nicodemus answered and said to Him, "How can these things be?"  (10)  Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things?  (11)  Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.  (12)  If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?’

Consider the God you serve today.  Who He really is .. and what He is really asking of you … and then let your light shine even brighter in that reality.
