Doing My Part

My Utmost For His Highest

In the beginning Moses had realized that he was the one to deliver the people, but he had to be trained and disciplined by God first. He was right in his individual perspective, but he was not the person for the work until he had learned true fellowship and oneness with God. We may have the vision of God and a very clear understanding of what God wants, and yet when we start to do it, there comes to us something equivalent to Moses’ forty years in the wilderness. It’s as if God had ignored the entire thing, and when we are thoroughly discouraged, God comes back and revives His call to us. And then we begin to tremble and say, “Who am I that I should go . . . ?” We must learn that God’s great stride is summed up in these words— “I AM WHO I AM . . . has sent me to you” (Exodus 3:14).’ CHAMBERS

Ephesians 2:10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’.  We have a purpose, each of us. God wants to use us for His purpose … Obviously not everyone is called to do what Moses did .. but we have all been called for service and into service.  God uniquely gifts each of us.  1 Corinthians 12:4-7  There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.’

Every one of us has a place in the Church .. the Body of Christ … Our challenge is to see it and then to walk in it.  You may ask the same question Moses did … “Who am I that I should go . . . ?” When we look at ourselves .. we see weakness … in comparison to the mighty God who has called us … but .. like Moses .. we must remember Who is it that has called us … and when He calls us, He prepares us .. and when we are prepared … He sends us … When Moses understood that he was to speak to Pharaoh on behalf of the people, he was fearful .. But God sent him with a helper .. Aaron.   God will equip us to do what He has called us to do.  We are merely messengers from the King.  God never intends for us to do His part .. He just expects us to do our part.

Our part may be to speak .. it may be to serve … whatever it is .. we should be faithful in doing that which God has prepared us to do.  Many Christians think of serving in terms of going away from home and doing something that they don’t normally do.  Short term missions is something that comes to mind.  That may be something you are called to do .. but most Christians will never go on a short term missions trip.  Acts 1:8 “ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

What are you doing with what God has given you?  What are you doing about the work that God has called you to?  You are part of God’s plan to draw others into the kingdom.  To call them out of death into life.  To be a light in a dark and dying world.  It’s time to stop focusing on comfort and turning our eyes and hearts to Christ.  Let you light shine before all men as you yield to God’s call and walk in the power of His Spirit.
