Dealing With The Consequences Of Our Choices

My Utmost For His Highest

‘[…] abandon yourself to God. And once you do get to the point of total surrender to Him, you will be the most surprised and delighted person on earth. God will have you absolutely, without any limitations, and He will have given you your life. If you are not there, it is either because of disobedience in your life or your refusal to be simple enough.’ CHAMBERS

What would you give to have no worries … no feeling of dread about what tomorrow will bring?  You can find that in your life with Christ.  That is not to say that you will not face the consequences of your lust for things or your pride of life, or just the fact that you have feet of clay and live in a fallen world.  Decisions that you made in the past that were contrary to God’s Word and plan … sinful decisions … the consequences don’t just disappear.  Good people get sick and have accidents.   People want to do what they want to do and not have to deal with the consequences.  Why do you think there are so many aborted babies?  If someone wants to have sex but not deal with the consequence of that decision, have an abortion.  Why are there so many divorces.  Two people want to live together … but without personal commitment … when they aren’t enjoying the relationship anymore … they get a divorce … for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, until death … and they pencil in the clause … or divorce.  God does forgive us of those sins … but there are often inescapable consequences as a result of our choices …

But Christian, God is rich in His mercy and grace and will give you peace and rest.  Some people believe that God could not forgive them for what they have done .. but He can and did through His Son on the cross.  We need to go to God and seek that forgiveness by confession and repentance.  (1 John 1:9) The intent of forgiveness is not so we can go sin again .. but restoration in our relationship with the Father.  The burden and guilt from sin is more than we can carry.  You need to cast it off … (Matthew 11:28-30)  Jesus said “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light”

Will you have to face consequences .. yes .. where will you find the strength? In Jesus.

Chris Rice “Come to Jesus”

“Weak and wounded sinner lost and left to die O, raise your head, for love is passing by, come to Jesus and live!

Now your burden's lifted and carried far away and precious blood has washed away the stain, so sing to Jesus and live!

And like a newborn baby don't be afraid to crawl and remember when you walk sometimes we fall...so fall on Jesus and live!

Sometimes the way is lonely and steep and filled with pain so if your sky is dark and pours the rain, then cry to Jesus and live!”

Jesus is the answer …
