Taking a Stand

My Utmost For His Highest

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? —Romans 8:35
“Shall tribulation . . . ?” Tribulation is never a grand, highly welcomed event; but whatever it may be— whether exhausting, irritating, or simply causing some weakness— it is not able to “separate us from the love of Christ.” Never allow tribulations or the “cares of this world” to separate you from remembering that God loves you (Matthew 13:22).
“Shall . . . distress . . . ?” Can God’s love continue to hold fast, even when everyone and everything around us seems to be saying that His love is a lie, and that there is no such thing as justice?
“Shall . . . famine . . . ?” Can we not only believe in the love of God but also be “more than conquerors,” even while we are being starved?
Either Jesus Christ is a deceiver, having deceived even Paul, or else some extraordinary thing happens to someone who holds on to the love of God when the odds are totally against him. Logic is silenced in the face of each of these things which come against him. Only one thing can account for it— the love of God in Christ Jesus. “Out of the wreck I rise” every time. CHAMBERS

Have you faced or are you facing difficult times?  Times when you felt that all was lost .. the world had turned against you … God seemed distant .. you felt abandoned .. maybe by friends, family even God. When you are struggling under the weight of problems that will surely arise in our lives, sometimes it is difficult to remember that  “[…]  For He Himself has said, "I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU." So we may boldly say: "THE LORD IS MY HELPER; I WILL NOT FEAR. WHAT CAN MAN DO TO ME?" (Hebrews 13:5-6)

So what does that mean exactly.  I have to be careful that I don’t try to help someone by throwing Bible verses at them … like “Here, take two of these Gos-pills and call me in the morning!” When someone shares scripture with you, the intent is to stir the Spirit in you.  To remind you that you are a child of the King.  It is not an attempt to convince your mind that everything will be OK, but to speak to the heart.  God’s Word is truth … and the truth will set you free … This is a faith thing not a feeling thing … when you are struggling with a problem .. it is your feelings that are raging inside of you.  It is said that courage is action in the absence of fear when really it is action in spite of fear.  So, too, faith, is action in spite of feelings … in spite of circumstances … We live and walk by faith in spite of what is happening in our lives … because there is a greater truth ..  a greater reality .. In Jesus.

The problem is that so many times we are not spiritually ready to face the day … In the Army, we said .. “You fight the way you train.”  The same can be said for Christians as they deal with life’s issues.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.’ (Ephesians 6:11-13)

So it is time to suit up … Look to the Lord who is our Banner (Jehovah Nissi) … and press on to the Glory of God and as a testimony of our faith in Him.
